Cásper Líbero College

Cásper Líbero College is today an important partner of Brazilian communication companies, shaping talented and professional graduates.

The institution has over 3500 students enrolled in both undergraduate and post-graduate programs, along with 124 professors and 84 staff members.

Held by Cásper Líbero Foundation, the college building is located in one of Sao Paulo’s landmark – Paulista Avenue, 900 – and it is also part of a communication complex composed by Gazeta Television, radios Gazeta Online and Gazeta FM and sport website Gazeta Esportiva.

The first Journalism College in Brazil, Cásper Líbero College was founded in 1947, as part of media tycoon testament, Cásper Líbero. Years later, the institution expanded its curriculum offering also majors in Publicity and Propaganda, Public Relations and Radio, TV and Internet.

The college develops post-graduate programs, such as Master and specialization courses, keeping an Interdisciplinary Center of Research, as well as promoting extracurricular courses and university extensions.

Journalism

The Journalism major at Cásper Líbero College offer to its students the best professors, with a solid academic formation and vast market experience. The laboratorial organs, with teachers’ supervision, promote a great practical work space, such as Web Journalism – published in the college website -, Radio Gazeta Online – with programs created and edited fully by students -, the foundation house-organ, A Imprensa and magazines Esquinas and Cásper. Moreover, the monthly television program, Edição Extra is the only university show to be broadcast in an open television channel in Brazil.

Publicity e Propaganda

Since 1971, the major in Publicity and Propaganda at Cásper Líbero College shape excellent professionals for marketing area. The interdisciplinary projects are widely renowned and a highlighted part of the course, using academic, humanistic and market wise resources to introduce the student to its area of performance. Undergraduates have access to photography, design, text and media labs, market research, along with television and photography studios. A good number of awards won in the last few years present the curriculum importance.

Public Relations

For 43 years teaching the best professional, the Public Relations course in Cásper Líbero college invests its resources on the development of academic, humanistic and market wise aspects. The program main goal is to ensure the best academic formation for a professional capable of working in public and private companies. Since freshman year, students have access to practical principals, exposing politics, strategy, communication and social vehicles; research and analysis activities; advisory and consultancy, planning and disclosure, including training future entrepreneurs in various segments.

Radio, TV and Internet

Radio, TV and Internet major at Cásper Líbero form a creative and critical professional, that dominates every aspect of sound and audiovisual product for digital media. The program has updated studios and equipment and keeps a constant dialogue with the market for professional experience in laboratory organs such as the Experimental Producer, Radio Gazeta Online and Edição Extra TV program, in addition to the collaboration with TV Gazeta. Combining technical excellence with conceptual relevance, ethics and marketing, professionals graduated from Casper Libero are able to work both in Radi, TV, movie producers, radiowebs, portals and Internet content producers. The solid humanistic base and the presence of professionals working in the faculty makes the course a reference in the area, with graduates able to design innovative content and formats, manage projects, blaze new business and open their own communications company.

Specialization Lato Sensu

The post-graduate lato sensu program at Cásper Líbero provides O Programa da Pós-graduação Lato Sensu da Faculdade Cásper Líbero provides the expertise and the improvement in the area of Social Communication, or the pre-qualification for the exercise of university teaching, through the following lines of research: “Journalism”, “Theory and Practice of Communication”, “Marketing and Advertising Communication” and “Organizational Communication and Public Relations”.

Masters

The Master’s Programme is focused on identifying and understanding the new meanings of Communication in Contemporary World, while investigating the dynamics of technological advances, the fairs and processes of media products, through the following lines of research: “Media Processes: Technology and Market” and “Media Products: Journalism and Entertainment. ” In its current configuration, the program has trained 150 masters.

Interdisciplinary Center of Research

Created in 2000, the Center for Interdisciplinary Research (CIP) stimulates and encourages the production of academic research at Casper Libero. In these 15 years, the CIP has supported, for its grants award program, more than 200 teachers and Scientific Initiation projects, distributed between graduation courses, with supervision of the accredited master teachers.
Aware of the importance of approaching scientific production graduation with the strict sense, the CIP adopts the research lines of communication Master’s Program in Contemporary World: Media Processes: Technology and Market and Media Products: Journalism and Entertainment.
The CIP has an important marketing tool of its research for domestic and foreign scholars, besides its scientific magazine, Communicare.

Library

The Library José Geraldo Vieira at Cásper Libero College, began operations in 1948, one year after the inauguration of the journalism school. In June 2008, the management system of the collection was modernized, enabling access to online services.
Installed in a 625 m² area, the Library has a collection of 48,000 books, 500 periodicals, 3,800 films and several online databases, maintaining a Documentation and Research Center, which concentrates the newspaper library sector, the collection of audiovisual, a collection of historical newspapers and other rare materials.
